Historical Indexes

The Whelden Memorial Library maintains indexes to many of West Barnstable's most significant historical collections. Donated by a resident and local historian, these indexes help researchers locate information about people, homes, businesses, organizations, cemeteries, and local events without searching through every volume individually.

The original documents are available for in-library use during library hours. While staff are happy to help visitors get started, our small staff and limited local history resources mean we are unable to provide extensive research services or conduct in-depth genealogical research on behalf of patrons.

We recommend the Barnstable Historical Society, Sturgis Library, and Cape Cod Community College, all of which maintain significant local history and genealogical resources that may complement your research.
